Before I bought these, I asked my friends who already owned a pair of vans, what were they like? They quoted that they are: “Very comfortable and spacious” and in my opinion they are indeed very comfortable and spacious. in terms of style and comfort they have the qualities of Converses and plimsolls, or in other words the best of both. If your a half-size customer like me, then you may wish to chose a whole numbered size, because they are actually quite spacious inside. E.g. size 9.5 get size 9.

My son bought a blue pair 3 years ago and loved them they are very strong and also fashionable. They are a bit worse for wear now but worth the money!

    They’re pretty much all I wear now…, 20 Jun 2010

It’s a little hard to tell whether these will be a good purchase or not yet. I’ve had them for a little under a month now and still can’t make up my mind about them.
I bought these to replace my old Vans Era and an old pair of black daps. They’re mainly meant for cycling but I find they’re pretty much all I’m wearing now.
They are good and comfortable – up to a point. I have quite broad feet and have found that when I wear them for more than 10 hours or so they start to pinch my feet a bit and that gets worse the longer I have them on. This probably won’t happen if you have narrower feet.
The price is a little steep in my opinion but if they can last for more than two years then I think that will justify the cost. As my old Era shoes have lasted my over five years I’m hoping these will be just as robust.

Update – These shoes lasted about 18 months, but only really required replacing because I was very rough on them (tearing the fabric upper whilst playing football and then getting them covered in white emulsion). I have since bought another, identical pair and I am very happy with them.
