The Other Woman’s Shoes

The Other Woman's Shoes

The Evergreen sisters have always been opposites with little in common. Martha is married and has the perfect home, family and life. Eliza rents a drab one-bedroom flat, which she shares with her sexy but hapless boyfriend. Until, one day, Eliza walks out on him, the very same day that Martha’s husband walks out on her. Suddenly the Evergreen sisters are united by separation. Eliza is free to pursue the relationships she’s always wanted; one that offers stability and security. Martha falls into a relationship that she could never have imagined; it’s wild and wicked. Can they find happiness dashing down these new routes or does chasing love only get more complicated when you’re running in another woman’s shoes?

Readable but not brilliant, 20 July 2012

I have read an Adele Parks novel before, can’t remember the title now but I remember enjoying it which was why I eagerly bought this for my Kindle when it was at a bargain price.
I wasn’t amazed by this novel though, the characters seemed too steeped in stereotype and the dialogue between them was sometime toe-curling. The best bits of this book were the reflections of the main character Martha, when she was asessing her life/new status etc. They showed great talent for writing by the author and gve the reader an interesting peep into people’s minds.
It is a fairly predictable story, but I did find myself rooting for the seemigly uptight and snooty Martha, so Parks clearly had something right. Like I wrote in my title, readable but not brilliant. I’ll still check out and future work by Parks.
